Back from FL

Just a quick post, pictures to follow. I had a really good time there. We drove and arrived on Tuesday and left today. It was full of awesome beach time, family, and Filipino yum yums.

Last note on driving back... I know when people drive, they get grumpy, but Leslie's boyfriend Delvin was a giant ASSHOLE. He bite my head off because I wanted to drive and he drove like 9 10 hours, I think?! And he tells me I can't...well sorry ass hat but this is OUR vacation and I don't feel dying because you want to prove something. I didn't expect Delvin to be a complete arse, we usually get a long so I was a little hurt and surprised he verbally came after me just because Les and I wanted to drive. So Delvin is offically on the No Way Back Shit List. You are now permenently there along with Malik's sister.

Opinions Wanted

Hey all!

what is your opinion about have a wedding on a weekday M-TH? If I were to do this, it would be Thursday. Friday and Sunday are always cheaper than Saturday, but M-TH is even more cheaper. It is not conventional to do this because the thinking that everyone is free on the weekend. But given Save the Date cards, and invitations I would think it'd give  enough notice. And I don't care to be like everyone else and have it on a Sat. What do you all think?

EDIT
: Well, this is the deal. I want to have the wedding at place called the French House in Cincinnati. It's a pretty old style brick house, and nice surrounding acreage of park. On Sat for 6 hrs is the most expensive. 6 hours on Friday and Sunday is a bit cheaper. But renting it on a day between M-TH for 8 hours is more cheaper. So that's a plus.

Yes, it will be a night wedding. Everything would have to end at Midnight, but given 8 hours (4pmish-12M) it would be plenty of time for set up to breakdown of the entire event. And Ashley I agree with you, weekday weddings are unique and I heard its becoming more common.

I have a few of my mom's siblings outside of Ohio and their respective children. And Malik has two aunts, one uncle, one cousin who lives in the states and their respective children. And his grandparents are in Pakistan, but like you said Lady, it wouldn't be a problem for that because they don't work anymore, etc. For me all my relatives and friends are in Cincy or no more than two hours a way and same goes for Malik. So overall I don't think it will be a problem. Save the Date cards are sent 6 months prior to the actual wedding, so hopefully this would be enough notice for travel plans, jobs and school notices.

So I think a weekday wedding would be optimal for us. Lady, thanks for the Monday idea, I will seriously think it over.

Small Break Ahead

Busy busy busy. So glad for the break. This past weekend I meant to do school work so it wouldn't fill my break, but I didn't <_< Anyway I wonder if I can do it tonight? Hmmmm? That is my goal.

Malik and I are trying to get a second kitty. There's a pretty cat named Rupert. He's really sweet looking. However the lady is a psycho. She's came to "interview" us....yeah. Then asked so many aburd questions about our life in the next 10 to 15 years. She's one of those pet owners who will kill their pets with too much love. Piss on her.

Over the weekend I read Heir to Sevenwaters, one of the best books ever. I read it in one day! I love Juliet Marillier's Sevenwater books. They are just so amazing. You know how when you read a really awesome book, you can't stop reading it, you finish it and then feel utterly sad its over? I feel like that right now. I still go back and read certain parts over.

Have a nice holiday everyone!!

Cole, is Thanksgiving at your house or Aunt Jenny's?

So so. I have not written in my LJ in quite a while. I really don't have any changes going on right now. Still working, and hanging out with friends on the weekends as much as I can. It's been fun. Shaz and I are looking for a new apartment. We're moving in August, so I'm going to prepare as much as I can...moving is such a bitch if you do it last minute. I do have a bigger case load now, over 400 and I am receiving more next month which follow a different program, but still its exhausting to think about it. Graduate school will come in the fall, I don't know what classes I'm taking or anything yet, so as it closely approaches I'll have a better idea. I just hope work and school mesh well together and I'll have some kind of life to live. ha ha

I've been watching some pretty interesting anime lately. Saiunkoku Monogatari is on-going, Vampire Knight of course, and now Wagaya no Oinari Sama which is pretty and interesting; Shinto related! Now I'm watching with Shaz a show called Mononoke about a medicine seller, has pretty art and the medicine seller is a bad ass demon killer. Video below: The medicine seller is the guy in the gold when his sword is unsheathed.

Graduation stuffs

Jun. 6th, 2007 | 02:42 pm

If you're attending my graduation which is probably Les and Cole, here is the information:

-June 10th Sunday @ 1:00 PM
-No ticket required~FREE
-Permit parking is suspended on this day. (oo baby) So please park around the stadium and parking garages are FREE!
-Commencement lasts 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
-Graduates can leave after they receive their diplomas (i think, but hope very much so)
-Bill Clinton is speaking (Could be interesting O_o)
-I'll be wearing all black (durrr), a yellow cord maybe and a white tassel (white for humanities and SBS actually!)

Here are the directions to OSU.
-23 N to 270 wheeling to 71 N to 315 N take exit medical center drive exit.
-For some, just 71 N, then the same from there!
My landmarks are a little shabby, but I'll try my best.  After the Med. Centr DR exit, make a left and keep going straight and pass under a small little bridge.  At this point you should be driving between the two very tall identical towers.  Keep going straight and the stadium will pop up on your right and parking lot is on the left.  Park in this lot or the garge which is free coming up on the right.

That yellow highway is 315! Garages are FREE!

This weekend my sister and cousin are coming over. It seems like a good time to hang out, not much is going on. Last time we tried to have some cousin time, but that flopped because of my lazy sister. Also, I decided to bring my cat from home to my apartment, and Sat. is apparently the best time for my sister. I hope my cat doesn't freak out, but it's good I'll be there for the first intital days.

I think everything is going pretty awsome. Malik and I are doing good and life is generally progressing in a positive direction.

Yesterday, in Buddhism class we practice some different meditations. It really is relaxing and I found myself in the mood to go to sleep. One meditation that interested me was the Metti meditation which is wishing well to certain people in your life like yourself, your friends and then someone you dislike. The person I chose that I disliked was my stepmom. But we had to picture this disliked individual in our head and wish them well. I thought, well this will be pretty damn easy, but I found it hard. Really, I just wanted to laugh.

And, I don't see the point of my int'l st. class or what the hell my prof. is talking about. He's saying stuff about numbers right now, but I'm thinking about lunch.

mood: busy busy

This past weekend at Ohayocon was fun for me. Friday, Malik and I ate at a restaurant with a bunch of friends from the con. Saturday was similar, but we ate at the Japanese steakhouse. It was our one year of dating celebration thingy. Having friends come along was awsome, it turned out to be fun times. However, it was a bit frustrating when you have not ate all day and you're waiting on others and its YOUR celebration thingy (I'm sure most peeps were not aware of it anyway). Actually it was an awsome night.

On an interesting note, I finally met Malik's ex-girlfriend, fact to face for the first time at the con. She seemed really uncomfortable seeing Malik and perhaps myself. I thought she would be over things by now. I mean at this point, I've been dating Malik way longer than she had...but eh. So it has been a while. I'm sure she's generally a good person and stuff.

On school, well I am finally enrolled in the New Age religion class I wanted to take. So now I am taking four classes in Winter quarter no less! I usally take 3 classes in winter because of its ability to suck horribly. However being a senior and trying to graduate next quarter, well . . . it just cannot be avoided. I figure if I get things done now, then next quarter will be light and I can enjoy my last time at OSU. The suck ass part is that I have to catch up on the readings in this class and I just bought the books, which I'm still missing one, but the whole thing is making me into one really really broke Pinay. I mean, I have money , but buying books is dipping into the apt/bills money which is very bad. I may have to break down and I ask my father to help me out. We shall see.

Les is coming over tonight to hang out, we'll probably eat pizza and watch a movie.

Let the Learning Begin!

Jan. 1st, 2007 | 10:49 pm
mood: tired tired

I hope everyone had a great holiday. I really enjoyed the holidays this year. I spent most of my time with Malik in cincy. We did a lot of stuff, of which I'm too lazy to write right now. Besides no one reads this, so nah.

Tomorrow I head off back to the library hopefully with a positive return because I took the week before off to go to Chillicothe and didn't tell my boss. Smooth huh? Nice way to mess things up. Anyway I work tomorrow and I get to find out my schedule. Also I'm trying to get into a class that I find highly interesting on New Age religions. Unfortunately I'm waitlisted, but I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't take four classes this winter. Winter has bad effects on you, ya know. I do have a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow. I guess I'm ready to start a whole new routine. The quarters go so fast, I only have two more and I graduate in six months with two BA degrees! Craziness! Anyhow, that is all.

mood: contemplative contemplative

Today was going fine until I went to OSU, actually it was more of a mix blessing. This morning Malik and I woke up which he left and I just stayed up to clean around my apartment. Afterwards I went to OSU and talked to an anthropology professor there. Ironically enough, he's aquainted with my high school Latin teacher. ha ha Anyway, he gave very straight advice, but said my GPA is low, my GPA is like 3.14 right now. So I have to raise it up then apply to grad school. Fortunately I was planning to take a year off regardless, but recieving some academic criticism was a little hard to take. At least I know what I have to do, but it is stressful and I left OSU very frustrated. I think I tend to overshoot my goals instead of taking my time with things.

Sleep is elusive

Dec. 13th, 2006 | 07:16 pm
location: home
mood: blank blank

Last night I tried to sleep, but alas it never really happened. First of all I was feeling sick with a headache and a nauseated stomach. Soon I fell asleep after awhile, but I had strange dreams. My dreams seemed normal, I was walking through the town with my stepmom (yeah...I don't know) then slipt up when she walked through this dirt road bridge to smoke (go figure). Then I went down the dirt road to find this familar house which I thought Leslie was...Then I couldn't see clearly, it was like my contacts were out. Then out of nowhere the dirt road was shifting from side to side which meant so was I. Then I woke up, thinking I was awake and something had a hold of my ankles at the foot of my bed, so I shaked them off with all my might. Once I did that, I woke up for real. I was really freaked out by that deception, thinking I was already awake. Scary! I seriously considered calling Malik and tell him "um...I'm coming over because I'm too scared to sleep in my bedroom, okay?" ha ha I just ended up keeping the light on and then fell asleep at 4:30am.

So yeah...I had really no rest last night. I did buy X-mas presents for family, so something was achieved.

If only I thought of this a long time ago... I could have bought OSU vs. Michigan tickets and sold them for a few thousand! Believe me that is how much people are buying them for! Not kidding. Alas, its too late. I'm not into football at all, but I am hoping OSU does win, only because I don't want to put up with the bitching on the following Monday at school.

Today was a bit irregular. I didn't have my last class of the day, so I stopped by my workplace to put in a few hours, which I did..3! It was to make up for Friday, which I'm starting to regret I missed because making up hours is a bit of a hassle. Anyway I didn't really get permission to work today, but it was during office hours and there was other workers...However I thought my ass was in a bind, but I then remembered my boss is on vacation. So I guess I'll just have to see. I'm sure everything is alright, but I have to cover my own ass. ha ha :D

Also while working I suddenly remembered I forgot to call my aunt about my Apo's memorial service. Les and I wanted to send flowers...and I feel like shit for forgetting. Today I plan to call her later tonight.

I also went to the grad school expo at the Ohio Union. The only schools I'm considering that were there is UC and OSU. I talked to a guy about GRE scores and their importance in the overall acceptance process. He told me you can have low scores if your grades and recommendations are good. He used the term "holistic" when it came to application reviews. That makes me a feel a lot better about taking the GRE. However I still want to achieve a better score. At UC's table, it was only the medical dept. The guy took my name and info and said he would send it to the Anthro dept there. Mister, you're very awesome!

I then encountered a friend whom I met in the dorms last year. It brought my old feeling of anger at my other very inconsiderate friend. She basically took my Buck ID and I paid money for a new one again. I wonder if that's stealing? In any case, I let go of that crap a long time ago after I realized my so-called friend would never have the balls to apologize or pay me back. She ignored me probably because she knows she was very inconsiderate. Partly she is very immature. Oh well, I figure she has wasted enough of my time already, so forget her.

This weekend I've been playing a lot of Okami. I love this game so so much. At one part however, I found myself a bit stuck and decided to check out a walkthrough. (yeah I know! I was cheating. :P) But I didn't cheat because no one as played it to the end yet. There's a couple walkthrough authors who think Amaterasu is male. I was like what the fuck? Don't you read?! They refer to her as mother in the game. I think I would be giving these guys too much credit if I assumed they knew anything about Shinto. Well in actuality gender is not that important but Amaterasu is female for a reason. When it comes to religion I'll be a snob about knowing what I'm talking about...I think I earned it bitches. :D

Tonight I plan to study for the GRE and it's coming up in a few weeks. The week after this one coming I have midterm exams. Aiya

Sleep Head XD

Oct. 2nd, 2006 | 09:03 pm
mood: gloomy gloomy
music: *fan sounds*

This morning I begun with a late start and missed Korean. ha ha Well it's not so bad I guess. I had a quiz but in the long run it should not do anything to my grade at all. If I only miss one quiz that is. ^_^ Anyway today seemed to go by in a blur, I think I'm coming down with something. I woke up with a soar throat, runny nose and a slight headache I had experienced in class. The weather has been really fucked up lately.

Also I bought a new game called Okami. I love it soooo so much! It reminds of Zelda OoT because of its adventures and little mini stuff you have to do. You basically play Amaterasu but you're in the form of a wolf. You're there to purify the land and make things right. This game is all Shinto. Since you're a divine god, trails of plants and flowers follow you as you walk and run. Pretty awsome. And when you go through Torii you find hidden places but if you go around them, you'll find a wall or something. Stuff like that along with the whole nature focus makes it Shinto. It harkens me back to all the Shinto stuff I learned in class. I would like to email my prof and tell him about this game.

Lately I've been feeling a bit down. I need to sort some stuff out. I think after work on Friday I may go to Chillicothe and visit everyone for the weekend, like my sister and animals. I'll take a small break from the big city. ^_^ And I want to see my Dad and talk to him. I feel bad because I haven't talked to him for awhile.

See ya!

Apr. 21st, 2006 | 12:11 am

Lately, I've been thinking of deleting my LJ account. But you know I'll keep it to comment, I just won't write in it. So people don't waste your time checking it. I guess I'm just old fashioned, but I like to write in a real journal. If people read your LJ, you begin to write for others instead of yourself. And the purpose of having a journal begins to wane.

Political Post

Apr. 12th, 2006 | 11:29 am
mood: disappointed disappointed

This morning I had to rush to take a shower and go to class. Last night I was such in a deep sleep, it was hard to wake up. I know during the night I was talking in my sleep. You feel like a dumbass once you realize it, but you just want to laugh at yourself too. Me soooo silly.

Anyway I just came back from my comp religion course. We debated about the war in Iraq. The Pro-war side failed miserably. I thought the lack of support in the class for pro-war truly reflects what most Americans think. You just have to look at the numbers, the polls are down both for the war and for Bush. I think it's funny how the reason for going to Iraq changes according to the Bush administration's wishes. First it was WMD, oh wait there is none! Now we're "freeing" the Iraqi people...from what exactly? Saddam is gone. Besides if human rights was America's motivation, where were we in Dayfur or Rwanda or China? Nowhere! Because we have no interest in those places, there's no gain for the energy spent. How sad. And another thing what happened to Afghanistan and bin-Landen? The person who is actually responsible for the 9/11 attacks? Did America just forget about him? That's sooo effed up. It's not surprising how the situation is becoming so fucked up. It's a scenario that has been playing over and over again. Will the Western world ever learn it's goddamn lesson? It's just a country invading with no knowledge of it's history or the people. (BTW, I hate to say "we" like I'm including myself, but there's no better way to put it.)

Not many come across this LJ, which I happen to like, but if you do...go watch the World Link channel and watch the news broadcast Democracy Now with Amy Goodman. It's the only good source of info these days.
